Four Questions: With Kristie

Four Questions with Kristie - Baby music classes in Brisbane

In the Four Questions. series we ask Making Rainbows parents the same four questions. Meet mum of two, Kristie!

What is your professional background?

When I’m not having babies, I am a full time Health, Safety and Environment Manager working for a large multi-national company. I have 2 post-graduate university degrees and love the challenges of my job. I’ve been lucky to have worked all around Australia, in different industries, small towns and big cities.

What is the most challenging thing about parenting for you right now?

Right now, the most challenging thing is juggling a 3 year old (aka threenager) and a 3 month old. Getting a routine down was important to me and took a while to work out with both of them. I worry about whether I’m spending enough quality time with each of them equally and giving them what they need and deserve as little people. I am constantly asking myself ‘Am I doing the right thing?’ Parenting is a big responsibility.

What are you enjoying most about parenting right now?

I enjoy watching my kids little personalities develop, the funny and sweet things they do and say. My 3 year old is hilarious, sweet, crazy, loving and frustrating all at the same time. With my baby, I know she is my last so I’m trying to savour all the little baby things; the smiles, laughs, smells, bath time.  They learn and grow so quickly.

What do you enjoy most about Making Rainbows?

I love that Making Rainbows gets me out of the house and I can stop worrying about the washing or whatever needs to be done at home.  It’s like a little escape for me!  But most of all I love having one-on-one time with my baby, completely focussed on her in a learning and development environment. Oh, and I get to sing like no one is listening.
